Step 1 - Launch vDS Add and Manage Hosts Wizard
To complete the integration, an ESXi host needs to be added to the vDS created by APIC:
- Right-Click on your vDS created by APIC, aci_p03_dc3_vds
- In the dropdown, select Add and Manage Hosts...
Step 2 - Select the Task to Add Hosts to vDS
- Select Add hosts
- Click Next
Step 3 - Add New Hosts to vDS
- Select New hosts...
Step 4 - Select Pod ESXi Host
In the Select new hosts popup:
- Select your ESXi host: pod03-compute1
- Click OK
Step 5 - Continue after Selecting Your ESXi Host
- Click Next
Step 6 - Assign Uplinks from Pod ESXi Host
Assign uplinks from your Pod ESXi host:
- Click on vmnic2
- Click Assign uplink
- Click on uplink1
- Click OK
Assign another vmnic from your Pod ESXi host:
- Click on vmnic3
- Click Assign uplink
Assign another vmnic from your Pod ESXi host:
- Click on vmnic3
- Click Assign uplink
Select second uplink:
- Click on uplink2
- Click OK
- Click Next
Step 7 - Manage VMkerner Adapters
- No Changes - Click Next
Step 8 - Complete Pod ESXi Host Uplink Assignment
- Click Finish
Step 9 - Verify Pod ESXi Host Uplink Assignment
You can verify your vmnics from your ESXi host have been added as uplinks to the APIC created vDS:
- Click on your vDS: aci_p03_dc3_vds
- Click Configure
- Click Topology
- Under uplinks, expand uplink1 and uplink2 where you can see the vmnics from your ESXi host as uplinks to the APIC created vDS
Step 10 - Verify Uplink Operating Mode
You can then verify the operating settings of the vDS created by APIC:
- Ensure your vDS, aci_p03_dc3_vds, is expanded using the toggle arrow
- Click on the uplink group
- Click Configure
- Click Policies to take note of the operating settings
